Living up to Roger Daltry's claim that Nikki Lamborn is the greatest female vocalist on the planet, Nikki goes along way to proving this tonight with a fantastic and powerful voice that even hits the ears of all at the bar at the other end of the tent. Combine this with the song writing abilities of Catherine Feeney to form an awesome duo, but don't forget the rest of the band as Murray Gould on guitar has played with the likes of Elton John and is currently working with Dido, John Tonks on drums has worked with Fish, Raulo Mallo, Thunder, Lamb and many more and bassist Greg Harwoods has worked with James Brown and Barry white to just name two of many. Putting all these fine musicians together was sure to turn out with a good result but not only was it a good result it was a brilliant result with a great response.

Since 1996 Barry has organized the annual Rory Gallagher tribute gig at Dukinfield Town Hall, near Ashton-Under-Lyne, Lancashire, making this the first, and the longest running Rory Tribute in the world. Currently established as one of the main events on the Rory calendar, and forced to re-locate to Sheffield, it continues to grow and now 'The Rory Gig' attracts audiences in excess of four hundred people from throughout the UK and abroad. The same impetus to celebrate Rory's genius led Barry to form a tribute band with two like-minded musicians - bassist Dave Burns and drummer Steve Richardson. Both Dave and Steve are lifelong Rory fans, not just some rhythm section that Barry has cobbled together, and it shows! Together as Sinnerboy and driven by belief, enthusiasm and passion, it's the bands stated aim to be amongst the best Rory Gallagher tribute acts in the world. Sinnerboy are ever-presents at all the major Rory festivals throughout the world and were Donal Gallagher's choice of band for the first London festival at Hammersmith (Donal calls them his favourite 'boy' band!) |

Gunz N' Rozes are: Frontman GARRY CROWLEY's appearance on T.V.'s "Stars In Their Eyes", won so much acclaim that he was asked back to appear on the show's Christmas Special. He also performed vocals on N-Trance's recording of the Guns N' Roses classic "Paradise City". N.G.P. (Rhythm). NGP's energetic impersonation of IZZY STRADLIN's stage performance and guitar work, makes his physical resemblance a bonus. He also does much of the backing vocals, always spot on. SNAKE (Bass). Snake's hard edged bass style cuts through with punk attitude allowing his impression of DUFF McKAGAN to be uncannily accurate. STEVE HARCOURT (Drums). Recreates MATT SORUM's drumming with unswerving confidence. He is a drummer experienced in many techniques whose love lies in heavier styles. JOE HARCOURT (Lead Guitar). His performance as lead guitarist SLASH is simply superb, all of his classic riffs and solos are recreated note for note, and Joe's physical appearance is remarkably similar to Slash. All the classic tracks including "Paradise City", "You Could Be Mine", "Sweet Child O' Mine", "Welcome to the Jungle", etc, etc, are performed by the band along with many other songs from the albums, "Appetite for Destruction", "G N' R Lies", and "Use Your Illusion I and II". |

The BlockheadsIan Dury's Former Band - Still The Funkiest Band In The Land |

Formed in 1977 to promote Ian Dury's' album "New Boots and Panties" on the first Stiff Records tour of the UK, Chaz Jankel, Norman Watt-Roy, Charlie Charles, John Turnbull and Mick Gallagher became known as 'The Blockheads' (a reference to a song on Ian's album). As 'Ian Dury & The Blockheads' they went back out on tour, this time without Chaz Jankel, and in 1978 released 'What a Waste' a single that reached No 5 in the UK charts. They were then joined by saxophonist Davey Payne and toured the USA supporting Lou Reed across North America ending with their own dates in California. In late 1978 Chaz returned to the fold and composed "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick" with Ian. The band recorded it in The Workhouse Studios, Old Kent Road, London and in 1979 had a No 1 hit record with it in the UK. Ian Dury & The Blockheads went on to record the "Do It Yourself" album and toured Europe and the UK, recording the single "Reasons to be Cheerful, Part 3" in Rome. Released as a single in late 1979 it reached No 3 in the U.K. charts. In 1980 Chaz, once again left the band to pursue solo projects in California and Wilko Johnson joined Ian, Norman, Johnny, Charlie, Mickey and Davey to record and release a third album for Stiff Records called "Laughter" and released "I Want To Be Straight' and "Supermans Big Sister" as singles. They toured throughout 1981 in the UK and Europe, sometimes augmented by Don Cherry on trumpet, ending the year with a tour of Australia. In 1982 Ian Dury & The Blockheads disbanded and were not to play together again until 1987 when they went out to Japan in June to play three shows in four days, disbanding again until 1990, when the death of Charlie Charles in September of that year re-united them to play two benefit gigs at The Forum, Camden Town in aid of Charlies' family. Chaz returned from America and Steven Monti picked up the drumsticks for the hottest ticket in town. The band, now augmented by Merlin Rhys-Jones on guitar and Will Parnell on percussion, recorded a live album "Warts & Audience" at the Brixton Academy in December 1990. Chaz returned to California and the band toured Spain in January 1991. Once again the band stopped working until August 1994 when, with the return to England of Chaz, the band were invited to play the Madstock Festival in Finsbury Park in August which led to a series of hit and run gigs in Europe, Ireland, the UK and Japan throughout the rest of 1994 and 1995. In March 1996 Ian was diagnosed with cancer and, after recovering from an operation, was determined to write another album. To this end The Blockheads went into rehearsal in August 1996 and began recording at Air Studios, London in October. The album "Mr. Lovepants" was released in 1998 and in May, Ian & The Blockheads hit the road again. This time with Dylan Howe replacing Steve Monti on drums. In August Davey Payne left and was replaced by Gilad Atzmon. This line up continued to play gigs throughout 1999. The last performance by Ian Dury & The Blockheads was February 6, 2000 at The London Palladium. Ian died on 27th March 2000. In 2002 The Blockheads released "Ten Turnips From The Tip" a collection of songs they had been working on with Ian over the last couple of years before his death. Several of the tracks are now a staple part of their act which covers all the hits and crowd favourites like "Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll". Preview by Peter Ashton |

StipeR.E.M Tribute |

Stipe have been around since 1996. The first line-up was formed by Rick Southern and gigged mainly in the North of England and Scotland. Over the next few years Rick also fronted Midlands based "Monster" playing many gigs throughout the U.K and Europe, honing and perfecting Michael Stipe's very individual stage persona.
It was with "Monster" that Rick met Stipe keyboard player Pete. The new line-up of Stipe was completed in September 2002. This line-up brought together over thirty years of gigging experience of five talented and experienced musicians.
Since their debut on January 1st 2003 at the Limelight Club in Crewe, the band have played everything from small clubs to large festivals all across England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The vast majority of venues hosting the band have asked for a return booking.
R.E.M. fans say really great things about Stipe. Fan sites like murmurs.com and myrem.com contain many threads about the band. Here are some quotes, taken from pages which can be accessed via the Reviews section of the website.
"arguably better than the live performance by REM themselves(dare I say that?)"Stipe have over sixty R.E.M songs in their repertoire. The list is continuing to grow. Just like R.E.M, this enables the band to change their set considerably and keeps everything sounding fresh. A tour is being arranged to coincide with R.E.M's own in 2005. There are many tribute bands that claim to be "the ultimate" or "the U.K's No.1". Stipe take this to another level; off-stage, down-to-earth and approachable - on-stage enthusiasm and energy make compelling viewing, maintaining the essence that is R.E.M. Stipe ARE the definitive R.E.M. tribute. |
