Kings Ov Leon

“REALLY IMPRESSIVE, GREAT JOB FELLAS”  - Nathan Followill, Kings Of Leon.

The WORLD's most sought after Kings of Leon tribute bring their latest show to Southampton!

Established in 2007, Kings Ov Leon have pushed the boundaries of what a tribute band can be. Their attention to detail, in every aspect has earned them rave reviews worldwide from the die hard fans, radio stations, music publications, tv shows and are the only tribute to be publicly praised by the Kings Of Leon theselves.

KovL's breathtaking stage show, takes you on an unforgettable journey, playing hits from the debut EP 'Holy Roller Novocaine' to the ground breaking number one album 'WALLS' Time and time again, with their sound, look and edge, they leave their audience believing they could have been witnessing the real Kings of Leon.

After 10 years, Kings Ov Leon are still at the top of their game. Still number one. A true heavyweight of the tribute scene. How close can a tribute get?  The name says it all....

Superdrone

Most recently cited as figureheads of the new wave of British Shoegaze, Southampton three piece Superdrone have completed their fifth full album, and it’s almost certainly not what you’re expecting.

Shoegaze. What even is it anymore? Fans will argue amongst themselves until they’re blue in the face but as far as Superdrone are concerned, it’s exactly what it’s always been….and they want so much more.

30-odd years ago, My Bloody Valentine released Loveless and no-one had heard anything like it…ever. The same can be said of Slowdive’s Souvlaki. Both records were truly, immensely ground-breaking. So much so, that they have now been copied to death by most bands seeking a place under the Shoegaze umbrella.

There’s nothing wrong in trying to emulate your musical heroes but to Superdrone, those bands were pushing boundaries, using the latest technology and taking music to places it hadn’t gone to before. “We love those bands but why stop there?” muses Ed Richards (vox/bass/songwriter). “Technology has moved on so much….let the music evolve too.”

And so, the initial concept for Album 5 (Water) was born. The band threw out any pre-conceived ideas of what this album should be and instead concerned themselves with four absolute ideals; it must be new, it must be thought-provoking, it must sound beautiful and above all…it must envoke the feeling of water.

New influences were incorporated, Jon Hopkins, Massive Attack, Unkle, M83, Harold Budd and Brian Eno can all be referenced through the beats and production arangements.

Completed during the Covid-19 lockdown, the recording of ▽ came with its fair share of challenges. Without the luxury of face-to-face contact, Ed sent Tien Ren (guitars) song ideas on Messenger or via Zoom and between them they decided what was worth pursuing for the album.

With no access to Timmy G (drums) or a fully functioning studio, the writing, production, mixing and mastering all had to be done from home so the band had to find the latest sound-creation tools online, which Ed then downloaded into his make-shift home studio.

It wasn’t easy but it meant that the rule book was well and truly ripped up. As well as the traditional guitars, bass and drums, you will hear cinematics, pianos, synths, orchestration, binural frequencis, A432 tuning, mellotrons, 3D surround soundscapes, drones and experimental recording techniques, all meshing together to create an extraordinarily emotional sound.

This new cinematic approach to create the most beautiful sounds possible, has already been said to be a whole new off-shoot of the Shoegaze/Dreampop genre, and been hailed by many reviewers as a "masterpiece". Previously, Superdrone have decided not to promote themselves, instead just making music and leting it find a small group of devoted fans, to grow organically. However, too many have said that this album needs to he heard by a wider audience.

The quietly anthemic track, Time is Now, Now is Our Time, was originally written by Richards with a thought to people coming out of lockdown and wanting to re-begin their lives, perhaps with more purpose than before. For him and the other band members it now has an added meaning; maybe the time really is now, and now really is their time.
