The Brook in collaboration with the Society of St James and SOCO Music are pleased to bring you the first Resound Festival 

The aim of this event is to help raise awareness to the growing homeless and those suffering with addiction in the City. 

The event will host a number of bands and live speakers.

The Society Of St James

Society of St James - Homelessness is a complex issue that presents itself in various forms. It can be a truly frightening and isolating experience. People experiencing homelessness are more susceptible to physical and mental health issues, often compounded by trauma.

The Society of St James believes that having a safe place to call home is a fundamental human right, and without it, everything is a challenge. While visible street homelessness is apparent in towns and cities, thousands more can be described as 'hidden homeless'. People may find themselves in temporary accommodation or overcrowded and unsuitable housing, while others may be sofa surfing with friends and family.

It is shocking that at the moment in the UK thousands of people are without a permanent, safe home.
 

SoCo Music Project

SoCo Music Project has been delivering engaging and inspirational music making activities since 2008.

We believe everyone has the right to take part in music making, no matter what your ability, age, background or circumstances.

Music is powerful, it has a place in everyones life, whether it’s a song that is close to your heart, a process that helps you through challenging times or way to celebrate your talents.

At SoCo we are passionate about changing lives through music… our positive and creative opportunities help people discover something new, learn new skills and nurture their creative potential. Through our ENGAGE programme we develop projects and create spaces that inspire, captivate and entertain.

The Good Weather for an Airstrike

Bio: The Good Weather for an Airstrike project was initially conceived at the beginning of 2009 by Winchester, UK-based Tom Honey. Since those humble beginnings, GWFAA’s music has been streamed over 75 million times across the major streaming platforms, as well as being featured regularly on BBC Introducing, KEXP and Channel 4.

GWFAA is also a featured artist on the sleep, meditation and relaxation app ‘Calm’ (Apple’s App of the year + Google Play Editors Choice) and has been featured on New York Magazine and Nowness.

GWFAA’s work draws on all of his musical influences and presents itself as a rich tapestry of lulling drones that hints at a diluted form of post-rock.

Southampton Ukulele Jam

There are many aspects to Southampton Ukulele Jam.

We are, in equal parts, a jam, a community, a social club, a ukulele ‘boot camp’ and a gigging band.

We endeavour to be a force for good; supporting worthwhile causes, raising money for charity and promoting tolerance, acceptance and diversity by playing good songs with more enthusiasm than ability on tiny instruments.

Musically, we steer clear of traditional ukulele tunes, preferring instead to delve into a repertoire that runs from Kylie Minogue to The Clash via The Vaccines and Lady Gaga.

Everyone in the Jam gives their time for free, but, by asking for charitable donations for private or funded events, the Jam have been able to raise thousands of pounds for charity since we started in 2008.

We do our best to adhere to the “everyone is welcome, anyone can do it” ethos that we think is central to playing the ukulele. As a result we have a thriving Beginners and Improvers group and hold an Open Jam every other Monday at The 1865 in Southampton.

The bottom line is that we do what we like and we like what we do. With us, fun is always the winner. Come join the mayhem. You are most welcome.

It’s our 18th birthday in 2026 and we’ve set ourselves a target to raise £18,000 this year.
How are we doing so far?

Recovery Allstars

The Recovery All-Stars meet for weekly jamming sessions and is made up of adults dealing with alcohol and drug misuse. Whether the participants are keen musicians or have never picked up an instrument before at all – they use their love of music and performing to support their on-going recovery.

Music has helped me so much in my recovery and I now feel like I have something to get up for. – A participant.
