Essential Info

All the bits and bobs about buying, refunds, getting here, transport links, eating & sleeping, e-cigarettes, age, acceptable behaviour, parking show-times & terms & conditions,

Buy Early

Many of our shows sell out before the night, so we strongly advise that you purchase your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment. Many of the recent shows have surprised us, in how quickly they have sold out.  The Brook accepts all major credit and debit cards. As of November 2023, we no longer accept American Express cards.

Box Office Hours

Box Office Hours are 1.00pm-7.00pm Wednesday to Saturday for telephone or walk in sales. You can also walk in any other time that we have a show on from 7.00pm – close

Online Sales

Wherever you see the “Buy Tickets” button you can click it and it will take you to a secure site which deals with our online ticketing. They are “virtual” tickets, you print out the “virtual ticket”, or bring it with you on your phone to the venue on the night, along with suitable identification. When you arrive at the The Brook, we will match your name and number to the list that we have.

Do not be tempted to buy or sell tickets from reseller sites like Viagogo or Stub Hub or any other blaggards, they are not official sellers and it is proving very difficult to obtain refunds.  Never-ever buy any tickets on Facebook (for anything!!) . These reseller sites are full of scams, rogues and scallywags and more importantly your tickets will not be valid and you will end up out of pocket and disappointed.

If a show is not available online, it may not be completely confirmed, check with the venue on 02380555366

We like you buying on-line and this is why…

As with all online ticket sales, there is a booking fee, but we thought that TicketWeb offered the best deal to our customers & to us.  If you choose to buy on-line, 50p from the booking fee for each ticket comes back directly to The Brook from TicketWeb via their GV.T Venue Restoration Fund Scheme.  This enables us to replace broken microphones, fix toilets, replace light bulbs & all the other things that break just before opening the doors!

Note – you can not collect your tickets until the evening of the show!! You have your tickets in your email!!

Mango Thai Tapas Portswood

Why don’t make a night of it and pop to Mango in Portswood for some fine Thai food before you come to The Brook?

Since opening in 2007, this funky beach bar-style cafe has become one of the most renowned restaurants on the south-coast. Although hidden away in Southampton’s boho studenty-quarter, Mango is well known for its vibrant atmosphere and intimate charm that’s encouraged by the selection of Asian trinkets, hand-carved filigree screens, palms and vast murals of elephants and glossy tigers.

Mango’s concept of combining Thai food with tapas-style dining provides diners with the opportunity to enjoy a real variety of the tastes of Southeast Asia together. Everything on the menu is made in-house and freshly prepared to order by the expert team of Thai chefs. It’s a great venue for drinks too, thanks to the strong range of international wine and beer and the Thai-beach- themed cocktail menu with weekend 2-4-1 deals.

Mango has two other Thai Tapas Bars in Southampton: one on Above Bar Street and the other on Canute Road, Ocean Village.

Other Info

Smoking Policy…

In compliance with current UK law, The Brook has a strict no-smoking policy, in-fact we had a no smoking downstairs policy two years before the ban!  You may smoke outside the building at the door-staff’s discretion.  If you smoke outside, please smoke away from the entrance, we have painted lines to smoke behind to keep you away from the front door.

E-Cigarettes

Unfortunately, like many businesses we do not allow electronic cigarettes to be used inside the venue. Just check in with our door staff at the entrance, before you puff and they will point you to the smoking area.

Age Policy…

The Brook is an 18+ venue, although youngsters of 14 and upwards can come to shows if accompanied by an adult over the age of 21.

No more than two 14+ plus per adult.

Sometimes we do shows where our age policy is different. It will be stated on the listing of the show. i.e. Sometimes we do 14+, 16+ or 11-17 – Un-accompanied shows.

Please note that on the advice of Southampton Police – we only accept Passports or Photo Driving Licences as acceptable proof of age to buy alcohol. We do NOT accept any other form of age identification. We do NOT accept any national proof of age scheme cards. If you are lucky enough to look young – you will need I.D. If you are not sure – phone us before purchasing your tickets.

Under 16′s MUST be off the premises by 12 Midnight.

Under 18′s will not be admitted to Comedy Nights (unless age is stated on the show), as we feel the content provided by some of the comedians is not suitable for minors.

Acceptable Behaviour…

The Brook prides itself on being a trouble free venue. We do not tolerate any un-acceptable behavior. We strive to make a safe, friendly atmosphere for our customers, staff, bands and door staff, whilst giving them a rocking good time.  On the rare occasion that someone is ejected from the building, there will be no refunds.  If you are there and think someone is being unreasonable, just come and see us at the box office.

Parking…

Daytime Parking

Some of our early shows take place during business hours. The domestic street parking around us is mostly permit / 2 hour parking zone, so should be good from 4:00pm, although street parking is limited. The industrial estate is busy till 6:00pm, and until this time the car parks remain private so do not park in them or block any entrances. If you are coming to a show which opens during business hours, we highly recommend public transport, bicycle, voi, taxi, pigeon, stork, teleport etc…. Parking will be in very high demand at this time. See here…

Evening Parking

There is plenty of street parking on Portswood Road and in the Industrial Estate behind us. We have a good relationship with our neighbours, and the people who run the industrial units behind us do not mind our customers using their car parks in the evenings. Despite this – the road is used by large lorries 24hours. Don’t park on the corners, don’t block gates. Or we may have an irate lorry driver interrupting the show – reading out your number plate!

Do not leave your car overnight in anyone’s car park. They may clamp it or remove it. If you are planning to leave your car overnight, leave it in normal street parking (watch out for permit parking) or ask the doorstaff if you are not sure!! Clarke Lane’s car park is available in the evenings, they clamp cars between the hours of 7:00am and 7:00pm, so you can park there during a show – but don’t leave your car!

We have a good relationship with local police, and their advice is as with any city centre, do not leave anything valuable on show in your car when you park it. On the rare occasions when there has been a break in, it is when someone has left their mobile phone on the dashboard – and the kids just can’t resist.

Opening Times & Show Times…

Opening times and showtimes at the venue vary, depending on the day, the artist, and whether there is a support on the night. The times shown on our website are given as a guide and may be subject to change. To avoid disappointment, please check the times on the day of the show in case there are any changes.

Where stated, the show time will be the start of the support act if there is one booked, or the main act if no support is booked. If there is a DJ Support, it will be the start of the DJ Set.

Occasionally we will run to 1:00am – this will be clearly advertised on the gig listing.

Bars will close promptly half an hour before closing!
